Uncle Harold in Action...Story-telling with "Willy" the puppet...
Meet Uncle Harold..."Uncle Harold" as children call him, is a Children's Evangelist, holding Meetings at churches and camps across Mid-Western Canada.
Uncle Harold, through Children's Outreach Mission Enterprise is dedicated to presenting The Gospel of
the LORD JESUS CHRIST to Children at a level that they can
easily understand (in a Children's Meeting Format.)
He is motivated by scriptures such as Mathew 19:14, where Jesus said, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven". Uncle Harold uses his unique talent in order to attract young hearts and minds to the Word of God and the Person of The Lord Jesus Christ. Through a variety of mediums, including Music, Puppetry, Flannelgraph, Object Lessons, Contests, and Chalk Drawings, Uncle Harold presents Bible Stories, and children are encouraged to respond to the Lord Jesus on their initiative after the close of each Meeting. more about Uncle Harold...
A plain word to Christians...Boys and Girls are people too. They have problems and needs just like adults. They need to know that God is real, that He made the World and came into the World to die on the cross for our sins. They need to know since Adam and Eve sinned against God at the beginning, that every person born on earth is a sinner too. They need to see that it was out of love for people, even children that God came in the person of The LORD JESUS CHRIST to pay the price for our sinfulness. They need to know that if they will turn from sin and believe on The Lord Jesus Christ, they shall be saved and given a home in Heaven.
It is the entire purpose of these Children's Meetings to teach the Children about all these things. To do this I use many things and methods to attract boy's and girl's attention. I use puppets and pictures, etc. The reason I mention these things is due to the fact that many Christians think that the purpose of these children's meetings is pure entertainment. This view is totally wrong. I am not a children's entertainer like Fred Penner or Mr. "Dress-up". Entertainment is not my business at all. I am an Evangelist, and you need to understand this completely before you consider any Children's Meetings conducted by me at your Church or Camp.
Children......watch an average of 27 hours of television a week;
...8 million are being raised in one-parent homes;
...their suicide rate has risen 300% in the past 25 years;
...23 million have working mothers
...28% of them stay alone regularly while parents work;
...100,000 fifth and sixth graders get drunk every week.
85% of the people who respond to Christ are between the ages of 5 and 14. Childhood is the greatest opportunity we have to make a powerful, lasting impact in our homes, nation, and the world.
The good seed of God's Word can be planted into children's minds
and hearts so that an abundant harvest will be reaped.
Are you looking for a new way to reach
boys and girls and their families for
Christ in your town?
"Uncle" Harold can help you do this
through your own church by means of a
special week of Gospel meetings designed
to appeal to children ages five to twelve.
Children need to hear the Gospel clearly at their level of understanding.
The time to reach them is now, before it
is too late. nothing is impossible with
What is a Children's Meeting?Many people have difficulty imagining what a Gospel Meeting for Children is. How can you keep the interest of Children for a long period of time? The answer is simple...by using the Bible Story Method through means of Large Visual Aids.
The Lord Jesus Christ taught truth by telling stories and pointing out things in nature and human life. People listened to Him because they loved stories and they could see the things he pointed to with their own eyes. This is the same method I use in teaching Bible Truths to Children. It works every time.
In order to do this in a Children's Meeting I use a variety of "props" as illustrated below. These props take time to erect. They also need lots of room in the meeting hall.
The Children's Meeting needs to be indoors and at the same location for each meeting. A typical Children's Meeting lasts for about an hour. Children's attention is held as the program moves swiftly from one story, song, or object lesson to the next. The Program I do appeals to Children six to twelve years old. At the end of each Meeting, Children are encouraged to remain behind if they have any questions regarding the Bible Teaching they have received. This gives children an opportunity to respond on their own volition.
Sincerely in Christ,
Children's Outreach Mission Enterprise
